Greater coordination - Better collaboration
While civil society groups at all levels have played a pivotal role in cementing the global discourse that public freedoms are facing unprecedented challenges, there is a pressing need to coalesce around harmonized strategies and actions to regain civic space. The proposal to create Vuka! emerged from the growing consensus that civil society needs greater coordination of efforts and to develop new forms of organising to fight back against the closing of civic space. Over the course of this 18-month process, through in-person multi-stakeholder consultations and in-depth interviews, over 200 leading national, regional and international civil society organizations and activists were consulted.
